November rolled in with an exciting announcement from the Royal Caribbean International. The cruise line unveiled details regarding the exciting entertainment lineup that will grace the decks of its newest ship Icon of the Seas which is set to hit the waves in January 2024. Voyagers that will be boarding the ship come January can look forward to a handful of full-scale shows across Royal Caribbean’s four signature stages i.e., ice, water, theater, and air as well as more comedy and live music than ever before. The new vessel, Icon of the Seas’ impressive roaster harbors a great line of entertainers including 75 top-notch world-class performers and 50 comedians as well as live musicians.
AquaDome and Aqua Theatre – Entertainment Lineup Aboard Icon of the Seas
The entertainment lineup aboard Icon of the Seas consists of an all-new AquaDome, “Aqua Action” that will offer an impressive combination of theatrical and physical feats in a unique production boasting Olympic-level high divers, aerialists, skateboarders, synchronized swimmers, and slackliners. The Royal Caribbean made a promise to all of its voyagers that AquaDome will be a one-of-a-kind experience one that will blur the lines between live-action movies and theatrical experience.
The entertainment lineup aboard Icon of the Seas will consist of “Pirates vs. Mermaids” that will bring to like a mythical realm via a combination of fairytale characters, a lighthearted storyline, and the kind of humour that will appeal to adults and children alike.
Royal Theatre – Entertainment Lineup Aboard Icon of the Seas
The entertainment lineup aboard Icon of the Seas will also consist of the first rendition of “The Wizard of Oz” at sea. The play will tell the tale of Dorothy’s adventure to Oz with a modern twist. The tale will be brought to life with beloved characters, that will soar above the audience, a revolutionary set design with never-before-seen stage effects, an original score that will be performed by a new 16-piece orchestra, and more than 600 costume elements.
Music lovers will be wowed onboard by “SHOWBAND! Live, Music, Now” which will spotlight 16 talented musicians. Their vocal skills will be complemented by the venue’s cutting-edge video and sound technology.
Absolute Zero Ice Arena – Entertainment Lineup Aboard Icon of the Seas
Absolute Zero Ice Arena is also part of the entertainment lineup aboard Icon of the Seas. Guests boarding the new vessel can look forward to “Starburst: Elemental Beauty” which is an artistic interpenetration of the periodic table of elements and tells the story of the building blocks of life. The Olympic-level ice cast will drop jaws and leave countless gaping mouths by showing off high-speed choreography that will feature enthralling tricks and high jumps and will be accentuated by digitally mapped backdrops and brilliant lightning displays.
Young voyagers and their families will appreciate the “Once Upon a Time: The King’s Royal Ball” which will be the ultimate gathering of famous and beloved fairytale superstars. Adult voyagers can have some fun by heading to the Manhattan-inspired Comedy Club to enjoy a hilarious night, filled with laughter and giggles and of course drinks. Or they can serenade their hearing senses by enjoying live music of all kinds at Lou’s Jazz ‘n Blues, Dueling Pianos, the Point & Feather English pub, and the Schooner Bar.
