Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, and the Mexico Minister of Tourism, Miguel Torruco inaugurated Houston Travel Fest 2023 amidst the cheers and applause of the audience.
The opening day of Houston Travel Fest was that of joy and happiness for the travel industry as they celebrated their achievements and cheered as Houston became the host of the first-ever travel trade show.
The Houston Travel Fest that was inaugurated by the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, and the Mexico Minister of Tourism, Miguel Torruco was also joined by President and CEO of Houston Sports Authority, Janis Burke, Chairman of the Board of the Houston Hospitality Alliance, Reginald Martin, Director of Operations of Houston Airport System, Jim Szczesniak, President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Laura Murillo, Executive Director of the Texas Travel Alliance, Erika Boyd, past-President of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce The Woodlands Chapter, Julie Charros, and the President of CONCANACO Mexico, Hector Tejada, as well as top executives from Aeromexico, Volaris and Viva Aerobus.

Huston Travel Fest – Highlights
Huston Travel Fest was held at GRB Convention Center and received an overwhelming response from global exhibitors, travel enthusiasts, as well as industry leaders and cemented its status as a primer platform for the travel world. During the astounding event, more than 25 destinations and over 100 exhibitors from the U.S., Bahamas, and Mexico participated and offered attendees a chance to explore a plethora of cultures, destinations, and experiences.

Houston Travel Fest allowed visitors to immerse themselves in potential holiday destinations by introducing breathtaking travel experiences as well as a series of interactive booths. Through a series of panel discussions and seminars, renowned influences, industry thought leaders, and travel experts shared trends, insights, and invaluable advice with the attendees. The visitors were especially excited to hear about the Space Center Houston programs.
The Houston Travel Fest also had a stellar impact on the economy as the event generated millions in potential travel sales, via over 2,000 meetings between international and regional travel agents and exhibitors.

Huston Travel Fest – Bringing Destinates and Cultures Closer
The Mexico Minister of Tourism, Miguel Torruco highlighted in his presentation to international and local travel professionals and exhibitors, the close relationship Mexico and the United States share. While thanking Mayor Sylvester Turner for inviting him to the Houston Travel Fest, Miguel Torruco, Mexico’s Minister of Tourism stated:
“The relationship between Houston and Mexico is better than ever, so we have to continue working together to make it grow even faster,”
The Minister of Tourism of Mexico ended his statement by saying that he will continue working hand in hand with Mayor Sylvester Turner to promote tourism in both destinations. Mayor Sylvester Turner highlighted the actions that had been taken in conjunction with Miguel Torruco, Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, whom he recognized for improving and strengthening Mexico and Houston’s relationship.
When presenting the Partnership Award to both the Mayor of Houston and Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Jorge Cadena, President of the Organizing Committee of the Houston Travel Fest stated:
“This is a joyous occasion. We are gathered here today not only to celebrate travel in Houston but to celebrate two great leaders: Mayor Sylvester Turner and Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco.”
